Alaska Air Group Incorporated. The Group's principal activity is providing airline services. The Group operates through two subsidiaries namely Alaska Airlines Inc and Horizon Air Industries Inc. Alaska Airlines offers north/south service within the western United States, Canada and Mexico, and passenger and dedicated cargo services to and within the state of Alaska. It also provide long-haul east/west service to Hawaii and nine cities in the continental U.S., primarily from Seattle, also the Group offer long-haul departures from Anchorage, Los Angeles, and Portland, Oregon. At December 31, 2008, Alaska's operating fleet consisted of 110 jet aircraft. Horizon Air Industries serves serves a number of cities in seven states, five cities in Canada, and two cities in Mexico. Horizon initiated service to Loreto and La Paz, Mexico from Los Angeles in 2008. Additionally, Horizon launched service to Prescott and Flagstaff, Arizona, and Mammoth Lakes, California, in 2008.
