Affymetrix, Inc.. The Group's principal activities are to develops, manufactures, sells and services of systems for genetic analysis for use in the life sciences and diagnostic industry. The Group has developed GeneChip Microarry. GeneChip(R) microarray platform includes: disposable DNA probe arrays (chips) consisting of nucleic acid sequences set out in an ordered, high density pattern and software to analyze and manage genomic or genetic information obtained from the probe arrays. The Group sells its products directly to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, agrichemical, diagnostics and consumer products companies as well as academic research centers, government research laboratories, private foundation laboratories and clinical reference laboratories in North America and Europe. The Group also sells some of its products through life science supply specialists acting as authorized distributors in Latin America, India, China, the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.
