Business Description
American Medical Alert Corp.. The Group's principal activities are to design, engineer, market, install and monitor computerized personal emergency response systems. These systems carry personal security and smoke/fire detection capabilities, which are linked to an emergency response-monitoring center. It operates in three segments: Health and Safety Monitoring Systems (HSMS), Telephone Based Communication Services (TBCS) and Safe Com. HSMS comprised of the development and marketing of healthcare solutions and remote patient monitoring systems that include personal emergency response systems. TBCS provides telephone answering services to the healthcare community. SafeCom provides security monitoring systems to pharmacies. It's customers are hospitals, home care providers, physicians, medical transportation companies, social service agencies and health maintenance organizations. During the year the Group acquired MD OnCall, Capitol Medical Bureau, American Mediconnect, Inc and PhoneScreen, Inc.
