Carriage Services Inc. The Group's principal activity is to provide death care services and merchandise in the United States. It operates in two segments: Funeral Home Operations and Cemetery Operations. Funeral Home Operations. Funeral homes are principally service businesses that provide burial and cremation services and sell related merchandise, such as caskets and urns. Cemetery Operations. Cemeteries are primarily a sales business providing interment rights (grave sites and mausoleums) and related merchandise, such as markers and memorials. The Cemetery products and services include interment services, the rights to interment in cemetery sites (including grave sites, mausoleum crypts and niches) and related cemetery merchandise such as memorials and vaults. As of 31-Dec-2008, it operates 136 funeral homes in 25 states and 32 cemeteries in 11 states.
