Business Description
DPL Inc.. The Group's principal activity is providing electricity to residential, commercial and governmental customers in a 6,000 square mile area of West Central Ohio. Electricity for its 24 county service area is primarily generated at eight coal-fired power plants and is distributed to more than 515,000 retail customers. The principal subsidiaries include: The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L): A regulated electric utility that provides service to over 500,000 retail customers in West Central Ohio. DPL Energy LLC (DPLE): Operates merchant peaking generation facilities. DPL Energy Resources Inc (DPLER): Is a competitive retail electric supplier in Ohio. The Group owns and operates over 4,409 megawatts of generation capacity, of which 2,860 megawatts are low cost coal-fired units and 1,549 consists of combustion turbine and diesel peaking units.
