Genesee & Wyoming Inc.. The Group's principal activities are the operation of short line and regional freight railroads. The Group operates in two segments: Railroad operations and Mexico operations. The Railroad Operations Excluding Mexico segment primarily operates short line and regional railroads in the United States, Canada and Australia. The Mexico Operations segment operates regional railroad in southern Mexico. As of 31-Dec-2008, the Group operated over 6,800 miles of owned and leased track and over 3,100 additional miles under track access arrangements.
