Harleysville Group Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to provide property and casualty insurance business on a regional basis. It operates in three segments: the Personal Lines of insurance, the Commercial Lines of insurance and the Investment function. The Personal Lines of insurance include both auto and homeowners. The Commercial Lines include auto, commercial multi-peril and workers compensation. The Investment Function include the investment of the premiums in a manner designed to assure that claims and expenses can be paid while providing a return on the capital employed. The Group operates a network of regional insurers in the eastern and midwestern United States through approximately 1,400 insurance agencies. Its regional offices are in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia.
