Business Description
Interstate Bakeries Corporation. The Group's principal activity is to produce, market and distribute fresh bakery products in the United States. It operates in three segments: Route sales consist of an aggregation of our operations that manufacture, distribute, and sell fresh baked goods utilizing our direct store delivery system. Outlet sales consist of four regions that sell our baked goods and other food items directly to consumers through company-operated outlet locations. Direct sales consist of our direct warehouse shipment program, which ships bulk packaged sweet goods and dry products, such as croutons and stuffing mix, directly to customer-owned distribution centers and public warehouses for distribution. The products are then delivered primarily to national mass merchandisers, supermarkets and convenience stores. The products are marketed under national brand names such as, such as Wonder (R), Hostess (R), Home pride (R), Butternut (R), Dolly Madison (R), Drake's (R) and Merita (R).
