Metropolitan Health Networks, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is providing heath care benefits to Medicare beneficiaries. It operates through two segments: Provider Service Network (PSN) and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). The PSN segment, which operates through Metcare of Florida Inc, provides, on a non-exclusive basis, healthcare services to Medicare beneficiaries in Flagler and Volusia counties and Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties who have elected to receive benefits under a Humana Medicare Advantage Plan. The HMO segment, which operates through Metcare Health Plans Inc, generates revenues by premiums consisting of monthly payments per customer that are established by the CMS Contract. As of 31-Dec-2008, the PSN and the HMO provided benefits to approximately 33,000 and approximately 7,600 Medicare Advantage beneficiaries, respectively.
