Mid-America Apartment Communities. The Group's principal activity is that of a Real Estate Investment Trust. The Group owns acquires and operates multifamily apartment communities mainly in the southeastern United States. On 31-Dec-2007, the Group owned 100% of 143 properties representing 41,928 apartment units. On 16-Jan-2009, the Group acquired one of the 15 remaining units of the Village Oaks apartments located in Temple Terrace (Tampa), Florida. On 15-Jan-2009, the Group disposed Woodstream apartments, a 304-unit community in Greensboro, North Carolina.
