Business Description
National Patent Development Corporation. The Group's principal activity is to own the home improvement distribution business through its wholly owned subsidiary Five Star Products Inc and also owns certain other non-core assets, primarily consisting of certain real estate. The Group is engaged in the wholesale distribution of home decorating, hardware and finishing products. It serves over 3,500 independent retail dealers in 12 states. It operates two distribution centers, located in Newington, Connecticut and East Hanover, New Jersey. It offers products from leading manufacturers such as Valspar/Cabot Stain, William Zinsser & Company, DAP Inc, General Electric Corporation, American Tool, USG Corporation, Stanley Tools, Minwax and 3M Company. It distributes its products to retail dealers, which include lumber yards, do-it-yourself centers, hardware stores and paint stores principally in the northeast region.
