PerkinElmer Incorporated. The Group's principal activity is to design, manufacture support products, systems and service offerings within two segments: Life and Analytical Sciences, Optoelectronics. The Life and Analytical Sciences provides analytical sciences, genetic screening, bio-discovery and laboratory services solutions, including instruments, reagents, software, and consumables. The Optoelectronics provides a broad range of medical imaging, optical sensor and specialty lighting components used in medical, consumer products, and other specialty end markets. It operates in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, China, Japan, Italy and other countries and serves customers in over 150 countries. In January 2009, the Group acquired Opto Technology Inc, in December 2008 acquired Arnel, Inc, in May 2008 acquired VaConics Lighting, Inc and in March 2008 acquired LabMetrix Technologies S.A.
