Veeco Instruments Inc.. The Group principal activities are to design, manufacture, market and services a line of equipment primarily used by manufacturers in the data storage, semiconductor, wireless and high brightness light emitting diode industries (HB-LED). The Group operates in three segments: LED & Solar Process Equipment, Data Storage Process Equipment and Metrology. LED & Solar segment design and manufacture metal organic chemical vapor deposition ("MOCVD") systems, molecular beam epitaxy ("MBE") systems and sources. Data Storage segment design and manufacture ion beam etch, ion beam deposition, diamond-like carbon, physical vapor deposition, and dicing and slicing products. The Metrology equipment is used to provide surface measurements on semiconductor devices and thin film magnetic heads (TFMHs). Its sales and service organizations are located throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Asia Pacific.
