Whole Foods Market, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to operate a retail chain of natural and organic food supermarkets. The products include perishable food and beverages, dietary supplements, personal care products, household goods and educational products. Perishable food consists of produce, seafood, grocery, meat and poultry, bakery, beer, wine and cheese. The products are unadulterated by artificial additives, sweeteners, colorings and preservatives. The stores are supported by regional distribution centers, bakehouse facilities, commissary kitchens, seafood-processing facilities, produce procurement centers, a national meat purchasing office and a specialty coffee procure. The trademarks of the Group include Whole Foods Market, 365 Everyday Value, 365 Organic Everyday Value, Allegro Coffee Company, Bread and Circus, Fresh Fields etc. As of 28-Sep-2008, the Group owned and operated 264 stores in the United States, 6 stores in Canada and 5 stores in the United Kingdom.
