Business Description
Zoltek Companies, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to develop, manufacture and market carbon fibers used in building material in everyday commercial products. The Group's operations consist of two business segments: Carbon Fibers and Technical Fibers. Carbon fibers segment manufactures low-cost carbon fibers used as reinforcement material in composites, carbon fiber composite products and filament winding equipment used in the composite industry. Technical fibers segment manufactures carbon fibers used to manufacture aircraft brake pads and oxidized acrylic fibers for heat and fire barrier applications. It operates in the United States, Europe, Asia and other countries. On October 3, 2007, the Company purchased the Guadalajara, Mexico-based Crysel acrylic fiber manufacturing assets of Cydsa a large publicly traded Mexican chemical and industrial company.
