Business Description
Extendicare Real Estate Investment Trust. The Group's principal activities are to operate long-term care facilities. It provides home health care services in Canada. The Group also provides medical specialty services in the United States, including subacute care and rehabilitative therapy services. As of 31-Dec-2008 the Group operates 453 nursing and assisted living facilities in North America. The Group operates in three segments: Nursing and assisted living centers provide skilled nursing and rehabilitative therapy to support patients recovering from acute illness and injury. The Outpatient therapy and medical supplies segment provides services requiring physical, occupational and speech-language therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation and nursing services. The Home health care segment provides all levels of nursing care, home support and physiotherapy. The Group operates in Canada and the United States. On Jan-2008, the Group acquired LTC Professional and on Oct-2008 it acquired 3 Manitoba nursing centers.
