Business Description
Gerdau Ameristeel Corporation. The Group's principal activities is to operate steel mini-mills which produce steel bars and special sections for commercial and industrial building construction and original equipment manufacturers. It operates through two primary business segments: Steel Mini-Mills and Downstream. The Group has a vertically integrated network of 19 minimills, 23 scrap recycling facilities and 60 downstream operations. The Group produce specialty steel products and fabricated steel mainly for use in the construction and industrial markets. Its products are generally sold to steel service centers, steel fabricators, or directly to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for use in a range of industries, including non-residential, infrastructure, commercial, industrial and residential construction, metal building, manufacturing, automotive, mining, cellular and electrical transmission and equipment manufacturing.
