Business Description
Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC. The Company's principal activity is that of an Investment Trust. The objective of the Company is to maximise total return to shareholders over the long term from a portfolio of smaller quoted companies (with a market capitalisation of up to approximately US$750m at time of investment) in the economies of Asia and Australasia, excluding Japan. The Company is an Investment Company within the meaning of Section 266 of the Companies Act 1985. The Company has been approved by the HM Revenue and Customs as an Investment trust for the purposes of Section 842 of the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1998 for the year ended 31-Jul-2007.Investment management services are provided by Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Ltd for a fee payable monthly in arrears and is based on an annual amount of 1.2% of the average net asset value of the Company over a 24 month period, valued monthly. The agreement is terminable on one year's notice.
