International Shipholding Corporation. The Group's principal activity is to operate a diversified fleet of the United States and international flag vessels, which provide domestic and international maritime transportation services. It operates in four segments: Time Charter Contracts, Contracts of Affreightment (COA), Rail-Ferry Service, and Other. Time charters are contracts charterer obtains the right for a specified period to direct the movements and utilization of the vessel in exchange for payment of a specified daily rate, but we retain operating control over the vessel. COA includes one contract, which is for the transportation of molten sulphur. Rail-Ferry Service uses two Special Purpose vessels, which carry loaded rail cars between the U.S. Gulf and Mexico. Other segment consists of operations that include more specialized services than three segments, and ship charter brokerage and agency services. It operates in the United States, Gulf, East Coast, Middle East, Far East and Northern Europe.
