Alon USA Energy, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to refine and market petroleum products primarily in the South Central, Southwestern and Western regions of the United States. The Group operates in three segments: refining and unbranded marketing, asphalt and retail and branded marketing. Refining and marketing includes crude oil refinery, crude oil and refined products pipeline systems. Its refineries produce petroleum products including various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, petrochemical feedstocks, asphalt and other petroleum based products. Retail segment market gasoline and diesel fuel under the FINA brand name and provide brand support and payment services to distributors. As of December 31, 2008, it operated 306 convenience stores in Central and West Texas and New Mexico, primarily under the 7-Eleven and FINA brand names. In 2008, it acquired a refinery in Krotz Springs, Louisiana through the acquisition of Valero Refining Company.
