Corrections Corporation of America. The Group's principal activities are to own, operate and manage prisons and other correctional facilities. In addition, the Group offers a variety of rehabilitation and educational programs, including basic education, life skills and employment training and substance abuse treatment. It also provides inmate residential and prisoner transportation services for governmental agencies. These services are intended to help reduce recidivism and to prepare inmates for their successful reentry into society upon their release. The Group also provides health care (including medical, dental and psychiatric services), food services, work and recreational programs. As on 31-Dec-2007, the Group operated 64 facilities, including 44 owned-facilities, with a total design capacity of approximately 85,000 beds in 19 states and the District of Columbia.
