It conducts its operations through a federally insured savings and loan association subsidiary, Washington Federal Savings and Loan Association. The Group also originates other types of loans for its portfolio and invests in the United States Government and agency obligations. In addition, it provides real estate development and insurance brokerage services. The Group operates through 148 offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. In February 2008, the Group acquired First Mutual Bancshares Inc.
