Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Incorporated. The Group's principal activity is to market doughnuts and packaged sweets. It operates in three segments: Company Stores, Franchise and KK Supply Chain. The Company Stores segment sells doughnuts and complementary products through the stores operated by the Group. The Franchise segment consists of the Group's store franchise operations. The KK Supply Chain segment supplies doughnut mix, equipment and other items to both Company Stores and franchisee-owned stores. As of 01-Feb-2009, the Group had 523 Krispy Kreme stores operated systemwide in 36 states and in the District of Columbia, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, of which 93 were owned by the Company and 430 were owned by franchisees.
