Westmoreland Coal Company. The Group's principal activity is producing and marketing coal from coal surface mines in Montana, North Dakota and Texas. The coal it mines is used to produce electric power, and the Company owns interests in power-generating plants. It owns five mines: Absaloka Mine, Beulah Mine, Jewett Mine, Rosebud Mine, and Savage Mine. The Group also owns interests in cogeneration and other non-regulated independent power plants. The Group's major customers include Texas Genco and the owners of Colstrip Units 3&4, which includes Avista Corporation, NorthWestern Corporation, PacifiCorp, Portland General Electric Company, PPL Montana LLC and Puget Sound Energy Inc.
