The objective of the Company is to provide ordinary shareholders with an attractive level of income, together with the potential for both income and capital growth and to provide holders of zero dividend preference shares with a pre-determined return of capital. The Company is an Investment Company within the meaning of Section 266 of the Companies Act 1985. The Company has been approved by the HM Revenue and Customs as an Investment Trust for the purposes of Section 842 of the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 for the year ended 31-May-2007.Investment management services are provided by Edinburgh Fund Managers PLC for a fee of 0.65% per annum of the total assets of the Company after deducting current liabilities and excluding commonly managed funds. The agreement can be terminated by either party on six months' notice.
